How to Become a Participating Artist

ArT Tehachapi is an annual exhibition and sale where some of the best representational artists in the country participate.  This event begins in May with the annual Paintout and continues in July when the artists exhibit their completed juried works.

 

This event focuses on the Artists with awards totaling almost $25,000.  Awards include Best of Show, Best Landscape, Best Still Life, and Best Urban.  New for 2024 is the Artists' Choice Award with a media package prize valued at about $11,000. This is a fee-free exhibition and sale. Artists love that 80% of the proceeds from their sold paintings go directly to the artist. Unlike most Plein Air events, ours is not a wet-paint show!

 

Participating Artists must attend the Artist's Kick-Off Dinner each year in May.  There are several additional organized Paintout venues that many of the artists choose to attend.  You may also choose any other venue within the Tehachapi area or anywhere else in East Kern.  

 

All participating artists who are juried into the show are expected to attend.  They are strongly encouraged to communicate the importance of attending the show and purchasing from the exhibition with their collectors. We consider this to be a selling show, not simply an exhibition.

 

Each Art Show is juried by two members of the Tehachapi Arts Commission, at least one of whom is an artist.  If you want to become a participating artist, please fill out the contact form (here) and let us know.
