Jeff Horn
Jeff Horn is a professor emeritus of Drawing and Painting from Irvine Valley College in Irvine California. During his tenure he wrote the curriculum for the first California Community College Plein Air Painting course.
He exhibits his landscape paintings at the Laguna Festival of the Arts each summer and at his home studio annually in Costa Mesa, California. He also is a frequent exhibitor to the California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition and Laguna Plein Air Painter’s events. Jeff’s work has been exhibited at the Irvine Museum, “Then and Now” and the Laguna Museum of Art.
Jean Stern, Director Emeritus of the Irvine Museum said this:
“I have the highest admiration and respect for Jeff Horn because he is among the very few artists today who truly understand the technique of painting directly outdoors, or en plein air. Where most artists paint landscapes in terms of objects bathed in natural light, Jeff paints the light itself, in all its brilliance and fluidity. Thus, his paintings are dynamic, full of radiance and never stand still.”
Jeff has received several honors for landscape painting. He received the Excellence in Painting award at the 2012 California Art Club Gold Medal Exhibition. He actively supports land conservancy efforts in California with his paintings. His paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts, the Laguna Canyon Foundation and the Pacific Club in Newport Beach. Jeff’s book of homeless portraits; IN OUR EYES, IN OUR WORDS, won the Independent Publisher’s Awards Gold Medal for best art book for 2019.
Jeff is a Signature Artist Member of the California Art Club, a Signature Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and a Signature Artist Member of Plein Air Painters of America.
