Tina Chong
Tina Chong grew up in a suburb of Chicago. Showing an early interest in art, Tina’s parents encouraged her studies, which included field trips to the Art Institute of Chicago and Brookfield Zoo in Chicago. In high school, she studied a wide range of artistic media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and lithography. After high school, the family relocated to Los Angeles, California. Tina studied art in college but finished with a business degree in Marketing. Tina currently resides in Burbank, California.
Tina worked in business for 35 years with art as a secondary focus. She studied on her own, from books and experimentation. As the new millennium opened, Tina pushed art to the forefront and became a full-time artist in 2013. Tina is a representational artist in both oils and watercolor. Her primary subject matter is landscapes of the southwestern United States. She has focused on en plein air painting in recent years to hone her observational skills. Favorite artists include John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, Vincent Van Gogh, and Claude Monet.
Tina has an Associate Arts Degree, Liberal Arts, Los Angeles City College, and a B.S. in Marketing, San Diego State University, San Diego, CA and Advanced study at Los Angeles Artists’ League Mentoring by Vivienne Oldknow (watercolor) and Richard Gallego (oil), painting workshops with Kathleen Dunphy, Paul Kratter, Brenda Swenson, and Keiko Tanabe.
